CATHERINE MURPHY ON THE ENVIRONMENT

ENVIRONMENT

Then environmental issues covered in this area of the site range from tree cutting in housing estates to climate change and everything between.

All environmental issues are local in nature as our connection to and dependency on the land & world around is, although easily forgotten in the age of central heating and convenience stores, is no less vital than it was at the time of early Irish civilisation when the land itself was a source of worship.

The quality of the environment around us, whether we are conscious of it or not, has a huge impact on our physical, emotional and intellectual well-being as individuals and a society, as a result I’m a strong proponent of sustainable to appropriate development, finding greener solutions to our energy needs and in working together as communities to maintain and develop our surroundings into places we can be proud of and feel a part of.
