Catherine Murphy Calls for Urgent Siteserv Inquiry

Social Democrat TD Catherine Murphy has called for an immediate inquiry to be established to specifically examine the questions surrounding the Siteserv transaction and provide a report before the end of the year.

Catherine Murphy is also asking if the Taoiseach can confirm if any of the debtors involved in any of the transactions due to be examined by the Commission have threatened legal action if the Department or the IBRC exchange relevant files.

“I think it is time for the Taoiseach and Minister Noonan to act in good faith on this and try to convince people that answers are genuinely being sought by committing to setting up a specific investigation into the Siteserv transaction. That particular transaction stands out as having a very obvious public interest and there should be no reason why a singular investigation could not fully examine the transaction and report publicly by the end of this year.”

“I am also interested to know if any debtors of IBRC have threatened legal action if the Commission is given full access to relevant documents and if so what transactions are in question. These are the questions that require answers if people are to have any faith in the ability of this Government to provide a full account of exactly what happened behind the closed doors of the publicly owned IBRC.”
