Willowbrook Green – post bonfire repairs

I asked when will the pathway damaged by a bonfire last year at Willowbrook be repaired,  when will the glass strewn here be removed and when will the items removed from  the playground be replaced?

Report: The Parks superintendent Simon Wallace had reported prior to the meeting as follows:

Debris from the burnt bin and furniture were removed by the Contractor last week. Repair of the footpath will undertaken in conjunction with other path repairs before the end of the year. It is too costly to employ a contractor to do just one small area such at this and so it will be combined with other similar work when the opportunity arises.

Work on clearing the bonfire will take place in the next few days. Reinstatement of the area will not take place until the spring as conditions are not suitable for grass germination. In relation to
The replacement of equipment the relevant spare parts have been on order for sometime now and any delay in replacement is due to the playground supplier for the equipment. Some of the equipment has been removed due to vandalism but most is due to wear and tear. In addition provided the finance is available some repair of the wetpour surface is scheduled along with these repairs due to the shrinkage of the surfacing in places.

In relation to the bonfire in previous years we removed material before the bonfire but to no avail as one still took place therefore two clean ups had to be carried. I have no doubt that most of was sourced locally and so if it is the wish of local residents not to have bonfire then maybe residents associations could be more proactive in discouraging items being discarded for the purposes of a bonfire. I do not intend to double resources to stop a bonfire if these have proved unsuccessful in the past.
