Alcohol Bye-Laws
The meetings administrator reported that fines were being issued by the Gardaí however the Gardaí reported that biggest penalty to the offenders was confiscation of the actual alcohol
The members reported that the alcohol fining system seemed to be more effective in other local authorities and that Kildare County Council should be encouraging the enforcement of the bye-laws. I stated that the council should be looking at a long term solution and the problems associated with drinking alcohol in public places, i.e. anti-social behaviour, littering and vandalism.
Resolved: That the Chief Superintendent of Kildare meet with the members to discuss the issue of drinking alcohol in public places and the enforcement of the alcohol bye-laws.
