Open spaces in Celbridge Electoral Area
The following motion was considered in my name:
Has work commenced on identifying open spaces in council ownership in the Celbridge Electoral Area?
I received the following report: The following specific objective is included in both the Celbridge LAP 2010 (as objective AR 15) and the Leixlip LAP 2010 (as objective AR 20)‘It shall be an objective of the Council to identify and map all areas of designated open space within housing estates during the lifetime of this Local Area Plan and to amend the Local Area Plan accordingly’.
While it was the intention of Kildare County Council to carry out the objectives of its Development and Local Area Plans during the life of those Plans it was not possible at the moment to address the objective as outlined above. This was due to other priorities in the forward planning section including the preparation of the amendments reports for both the County and Naas Draft Development Plans and the preparation and publication of the Draft Athy Town Development Plan all of which must be prepared and published by December 2010. Following the completion of the above projects a work programme would be prepared for the forward planning section. This programme would include a review of all Development Plan and Local Area Plan objectives including the identification of open spaces in council ownership. It was reported that a report was currently being compiled for the audit committee on all council lands and when completed could be made available to the members.
Resolved: That a copy of the report/map outlining all council owned lands in the Celbridge electoral area be given to each member once compiled.
